Essential Yoga Tools Every Beginner Needs!

December 3, 2020

So, you want to try yoga? If you fancy yourself a flexible pretzel (aka spoil yourself meal) and you want to get in tune with yourself, you have made the right choice. Yoga offers you the chance to enhance your core and meet new people, steady your mind and improve your focus all in the same class. The thing is, if you are a beginner, it’s as intimidating as signing up for roller skating classes when you have a serious lack of balance!

The good news is that every beginner needs a cheat sheet for what they need, and I am here to let you know that you can indeed practice yoga right from your home. The poses may look complex from a distance, but your own core strength and mindset are skills that will be developed over time. Eventually, you will be pulling off some crazy moves on your own and you will feel stronger and better for it. If you are brand new to the yoga gym, then you need to consider what new equipment you need to make your new start a successful one. Below are essential yoga tools that you will need as a beginner. It is time for a shopping trip!

  1. You do not need to go overboard, but a good yoga mat is a must. Some classes provide these, but it’s always nice to have a mat that you have brought with you yourself. These mats are going to keep you safe and comfortable, and they are going to help you to grip the floor when you are shifting positions. It’s far more comfortable for your spine to be on a mat when you are moving between positions.
  2. If you want to be able to do the poses – even when you cannot quite reach the floor – then a good yoga block is going to help. You can get into the poses and maintain your posture when you use a yoga block, so add this to your list. Even if your particular class doesn’t use them, it doesn’t mean that you cannot bring them!
  3. While you are still trying to get your flexibility to peak levels, you need a helping hand every now and then. A yoga belt is that hand that you didn’t know you needed! You won’t always be the most flexible person in the room, so you need to get some help where you can.
  4. Yoga towels? What would you need a special yoga towel for? I know – it sounds daft when you can bring your own from the laundry room – and you absolutely can. However, yoga towels are excellent for those who want to try Bikram yoga, and they work to help eliminate bacteria from your sweat. You can even use them to help to support your poses.
  5. Lastly, you need some good yoga wear! Try out the leggings from curvesncombatboots.com for comfort, great designs and affordability. Yoga may not be a fashion show, but it does not hurt to wear something comfortable that makes you feel good at the same time. Form-fitting clothing is going to help you to move into each position without shirts and excess material hanging around!
