Why Simulation Games Are A Reflection Of Our Reality

The concept of player-centric design embodies this idea of placing the player at the forefront of the design and development process of the game. Personally, I enjoy playing video games that pay huge attention to detail. A game can be considered player-centric when the designer begins to take into consideration the player’s feelings and emotions. In other words, a player-centric game design is a state where the game designers acknowledge the importance of players even before the game is produced and put out on the market. The player’s at the center of the game is what shapes the foundation of the gaming experience which is super important.

A good example of a game that embodies a player-centric game design is ‘Overcooked 2.’ One of my favourite simulated games. The game is a cooperative cooking game that emphasizes the importance of teamwork and having good communication skills to run an effective kitchen franchise. If you love cooking in real life, this game is for you! Overcooked 2 does a good job of putting not one player but also multiple players at the forefront of the game because all players have something different to bring to the table with their different skills. In Overcooked, there is much more focus on the skills and abilities for players to make a strategic decision that will perhaps contribute to how each level of the game ends which is what I love the most.

Personally, I love how Overcooked 2’s gameplay establishes a mutual connection with players to work together and actually see themselves as work partners making strategic decisions. Games that have a human element to them are what really attract me to playing games either online or on a console. does such a good job at classifying various video games into my favourites categories like simulation, cooperative and strategy-driven games.
