Canada is one of the most incredible countries in the world. You could never get bored from kind people to intense sports and wildlife after picking it as the place you should settle down. The only real problem is choosing where to live! Here are the top five choices in the country and why each of them stands their own against a country full of winning cities.
Victoria, British Columbia
Lovingly known as the city of gardens, Victoria is more in touch with nature and art than any other city in the country. Kept young by its artsy residents, Victoria is a city that will leave you always feeling like you are in your late twenties.
The ocean views, fantastic music scene, and the vibrant nature of this island city will make you never want to leave. If you need further convincing, you can sightsee from Inner Harbor’s beautiful boats and water- to the Butchart Gardens that put Eden to shame. Mild winters, from the heat of the ocean, keep you from ever freezing. The summers are gentle enough to keep you from melting, but the beaches become a thriving spot that everyone wants to visit.
Calgary, Alberta
This golden spot in Alberta is the home to endless beautiful landmarks, and incredible culture, unlike anywhere else. Even in modern days, Calgary is home to The Calgary Stampede. This location has something for everyone, from rodeos to concerts, if there’s something big happening, the Stampede has it.
Calgary’s more than just a fun town for concerts; it is also the place to go if you want to see modern art or support animal conservation. The Calgary Museum of Art and Sciences offers a view into the creative minds of the province. Bringing the past to us in a way that makes it seem modern offers a glimpse into who we are and might make you jump to find Calgary real estate you can afford.
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Not usually on most people’s top five list, Winnipeg deserves more than it has ever received. Winnipeg has so much to offer even if it is considered the smallest city on this list. It is arguably the most charming by far; this option is the most affordable city on this list, with rent a third cheaper than Victoria BC.
With people at the forefront of their minds, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights calls Winnipeg it’s home.
If you want something to brighten your day, a trip to Assiniboine Park and aquarium will give you endless things for entertainment. National Geographic Travel listed Winnipeg as one of the top places to live in the world, which is why it holds its own in a country as beautiful as Canada.
If you are not sure where to move, these cities will welcome anyone in with open arms. Instead of going blindly to some smaller town give these a try! They will surprise you with their kindness and creativity.
Milton & Oakville, Ontario
For those of you looking to stay in a place that is easy to maneuver, has good weather and is full of outdoor activities. Then places like Milton and Oakville come to my mind.
Typically, Milton is one of those faraway cities you never hear people talk a lot about. However, in 2016, Milton was recognized as one of Canada’s Best Places to Live based on income, housing, weather and low crime rates. Personally, I have not spent much time there, but I really love how the residential homes appear. Milton is definitely a family-friendly city. Although, it may feel like a small town (which is no problem). It is popularly regarded as one of the friendliest and safest cities in all of Ontario.
On the other hand, we can say that Oakville has some similarities to Milton. In Oakville, you get that same old country-side vibe, but do not let that blind you from the fact that it is a city full of places that will help you relax and enjoy your free time. This city is home to many parks, museums, art galleries and various cultural events. A popular spot for most Oakvillians is ‘Oakville Downtown,’ which is also filled with church buildings, local businesses and more wildlife attractions like the lakes. In summer, Oakville is full of exciting places which are big attractions for tourists.
